Energy landscape in Indonesia
Indonesia has the largest energy resources within the ASEAN region, being the home of the best geothermal and hydro energies with volcanoes and abundant source of water. Despite the rich state, Indonesia is also one of the world's fastest growing energy consumption.
Indonesia's electricity consumption itself is forecasted to triple by 2030. According to data released by World Energy Council in 2014, Indonesia was also ranked on 69th of total 129 countries in energy sustainability. Energy sustainability is impacted by three factors that are supplies of energy sources, access to energy supplies, and the continuation of new energy development. The recent years have seen the declining of Indonesia’s energy sustainability caused by the imbalance between demand and supply.
The Partnership of Digitaraya and the New Energy Nexus SEA
Technology has proven to be of big assistance in energy development. But the limitation of business models, softwares, financial and funding, and innovative services have been great challenges in energy distribution.
These challenges have driven the form of partnership between Digitaraya and New Energy Nexus SEA that is aimed to support the birth of digital startups in energy sector. Digitaraya focuses on building the Indonesia’s future generation of entrepreneurs in digital startups, while New Energy Nexus SEA has the vision to transform the energy system in South East Asia.
The partnership is expected to be the strong force in rolling the process of energy system transformation towards smart energy system in Indonesia and South East Asia with Indonesia being the largest country in the region with enormous potential of being leader in both energy and digital sectors.

Nexus SEA has a mission to accelerate the smart energy ecosystem in SEA, support hundreds of new smart energy startups and transform the energy system in Southeast Asia.
